South Africa’s cadre of hardcore gamers can look forward to the New Year with even greater enthusiasm after iBurst announced it would be offering unlimited gaming from early next year for the very modest sum of R99 per month including VAT.
iGame Unlimited forms part of iBurst’s commercial launch of its online gaming
platform, iGame which offers online PC gaming against human opponents on a
dedicated server structure. Subscribers to iGame Unlimited will be able to play
competitively against each other with their gaming sessions not counting towards their normal bandwidth usage. The service will be available on both iBurst Wireless and iBurst’s new iDSL package range from January next year.
“For many people, gaming is less of a recreational activity and more of a vocation.
Our new unlimited iGame will give these dedicated folks the tools of their trade,”
said Jannie van Zyl, iBurst Group CEO. With about 40,000 unique players a month, iGame has been one of South Africa's most successful gaming communities. It hosts multiplayer servers for popular PC games
like Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty: World at War, Team Fortress, Wolfenstein,
Quake4, and Left 4 Dead 2. Gamers simply require a legal copy of the game and the iGame game server ip address. iGame is offered in partnership with Nanogames, which offers world class community support on the gaming platform.
All subscribers to the new iBurst iDSL service will have access to the standard
iGame platform and as an introductory launch offer will receive 1 Gigabyte of free gaming bandwidth per month for a period of three months, thereafter any gaming bandwidth used would be regarded as part of their normal bandwidth cap. iDSL subscribers on packages of 5 Gigabytes and up can opt for iGame Unlimited where users will not only have uncapped gaming bandwidth but will also enjoy preferential status with guaranteed game play, priority support on the iGame servers and automatic entry into monthly prize pools. With these additional benefits serious gamers would need little convincing to subscribe to the additional R99 unlimited gaming option.
iBurst’s new iDSL product range will be launched in conjunction with iGame
Unlimited in early January and will offer consumers an unshaped DSL service that can cater for a wider range of applications than their current DSL offering with a reduced per-gigabyte bandwidth cost of between R29 and R49 . iDSL will cater particularly well to the needs of the gaming community as it offers lower latency (leading to better ping times) and better overall consistency with less jitter allowing for a far smoother experience for applications such as online gaming..
.
On all iDSL packages subscribers will also benefit from the same in bundle and out-of-bundle rates per Gigabyte. Month to month packages of 1 GB, 2GB, 5 GB, and 8 GB are priced at R49 per GB, 15 GB at R39 per GB with a 60 GB offering at only R29 per GB.
"Gamers are a critically important market for us. We understand that gamers are
looking for fast servers and connectivity paired with affordable bandwidth and an
established local community to play with. This set of solutions perfectly answers their needs,” concluded iBurst CEO Jannie Van Zyl.
